Brass Workshop with Martin Reuthner
Together with Yamaha Music Europe, the School of Music in the District of Warendorf is organising a workshop for all brass instruments. The teacher is the well-known trumpeter Martin Reuthner from Cologne, who will teach brass players of all ages and levels on 28 and 29 October 2023 in the auditorium of the Antoniusschule (music school) in Beckum.
Martin Reuthner has a degree in jazz education, comes from southern Germany and received his first lessons on the flugelhorn in 1981 with Ingolf Burkhardt (NDR Big Band). He played in brass bands, school and regional big bands, the Baden-Württemberg Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Vocational School of Music in Dinkelsbühl and finally studied jazz at the Cologne Music Academy with John Marshall (WDR Big Band) and the BundesJazzOrchester under Peter Herbolzheimer.
His engagements ranged from the radio big bands of HR, NDR and WDR to musicals (including Starlight Express, Cabaret, Elisabeth, Phantom of the Opera) and solo trumpet performances in jazz productions by various symphony orchestras. Tours with Udo Jürgens and the Pepe Lienhard Orchestra followed. Reuthner is the leader of the big band of the University of Siegen, the big band of the University of Düsseldorf and the jazz orchestra of the Rheinische Musikschule Cologne. He is the author of various teaching books such as "Das Trompetenbuch" (The Trumpet Book), published by Voggenreiter.
