Better now - Well advised into old age
Outreach counselling service is well received
"Better now - well advised into old age!" - a joint project between the district of Warendorf and the town of Beckum - has been running since May last year. Since then, many people have already taken up the offer. Anyone interested in a counselling session can simply use the pre-paid reply card enclosed with the letter.
"Participation is not only worthwhile for people who have questions about care," says Nadine Schöppner from the Warendorf district's care and housing counselling service. She is one of two care counsellors in the district who carry out the visits. "Very often, the conversations are about prevention and how to stay in your own home for a long time," continues Schöppner. But she and her colleague Anja Becklönne also have information about local services for senior citizens in their luggage.
More senior citizens receive mail
More letters are gradually being sent out to senior citizens in all parts of the city offering advice. The service is available to all over-75s, regardless of whether they have already received letters or not. It is part of the town of Beckum's senior citizen planning, which aims to promote reliable and sustainable structures for senior citizen work and assistance for the elderly in Beckum.
