Budget freeze lifted again

The city of Beckum has lifted the budget freeze imposed on 2 February with immediate effect. The background to this is the discussion in the main, finance and digital committee on 24 February.

"In the meeting, it became clear under which framework conditions a budget for 2026 can be adopted - and that a resolution is possible in principle," explained City Treasurer Thomas Wulf the day after the committee meeting.

The budget bylaws will now be decided by the Beckum City Council on 5 March. According to the current status, a significantly increased global reduction in expenditure of around 1.4 million euros is planned as a general savings mandate for the administration. "The administration now clearly knows what is expected of it," says Wulf. The budget freeze has therefore been lifted.
