Sport and integration come together

The traditional international football tournament in the Jahnhalle offered excitement and sporting fun. This year, 8 teams of athletes from different nationalities took part in the fair competition.

The organisers Martin May-Neitemann from the Social Services Department of the City of Beckum and Ahmet Güven from the football club of the Altes E-Werk gave the starting whistle for a rousing tournament in the morning. The focus was not only on the sporting aspect, but also on the unifying character of the event.

After exciting group matches, the "Strohhut-Piraten" and "Algerien" first met in the match for 3rd place, which the "Algerien" team won. In the high-calibre final, the teams "Ski Club" and "E-Werk" competed against each other. Here, the "Ski-Club" team showed their individual and team class, ultimately winning the final 3:0.

The jubilant players received the challenge cup from the hands of Mayor and patron Michael Gerdhenrich at the award ceremony. All teams were very satisfied with the organisation and the tournament. Special mention was made of the catering provided by the Arab-Deuten Association, which treated players and spectators to Arabic specialities.
