Safety for the street carnival

New train formation - familiar route

It's not just the people of Beckum who are looking forward to the street carnival. Many guests from outside are also expected to attend. A great deal of logistical effort and increased security requirements are needed to ensure that everyone can celebrate in a relaxed manner.

Rose Monday parade with a few changes

As always, the carnival procession starts at 11.11 a.m. and consists of 2,373 participants, 16 bands, 35 floats and 35 foot groups.

Procession line-up: For the Rose Monday procession, the floats will line up on Sternstraße this year and not on Lippborger Straße as in the past. First, the floats will set off from the northern Sternstraße in the direction of Wilhelmstraße, followed by the southern section until the last floats join the procession from the Hindenburg car park. This also means that traffic can flow unhindered along Paterweg and throughout the south of Beckum for the entire duration of the procession. This year, the meeting point for those taking part in the procession is at the Antoniusschule.

Train route: The route is 10.5 kilometres in total. As usual, the procession runs along the following streets: Sternstraße, Hindenburgplatz, Ostwall, Oststraße, Markt, Weststraße, Alleestraße, Obere Nordstraße, Nordstraße, back via Sternstraße, Hindenburgplatz, Oststraße, Markt, Weststraße, Nordwall, Hühlstraße, Nordstraße, Oelder Straße, Elmstraße, Wilhelmstraße, Westfälische Straße, Oelder Straße. After the lunch break, the route continues on the following route: Oelder Straße, Nordstraße, Hühlstraße, Nordwall, Weststraße, Markt, Oststraße, Ostwall, Sternstraße and back via Nordstraße, Hühlstraße, Nordwall, Weststraße, Markt, Oststraße, Clemens-August-Straße and Südstraße.

Event area completely closed: From 9.30 a.m. to 8 p.m., the event site will be closed to car traffic. If you need to park your car on Rose Monday, you can do so at the outdoor pool, the Jahnstadion or the Elisabethstraße car park. After the lunch break, the northern section (Westfälische Straße, Elmstraße, Oelder Straße) will be open to traffic again from around 3 pm. After the end of the procession, the closures will be gradually lifted again from 5.30 pm.

Bus station relocated: The bus station stop will be relocated to Vorhelmer Straße (near the K+K supermarket) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., so that guests from outside can easily reach the event area by bus.

Stopping restrictions: Extensive stopping restrictions apply in the event area, in some cases from 7 am.

Access protection: The entire event area is secured with vehicles, containers and certified access protection.

Women's carnival parade

The women's parade starts on Thursday, 12 February at 17:11.

The meeting point is new: this time, the colourful women meet in the town hall car park, then parade along Südstraße, Clemens-August-Straße, Oststraße, Linnenstraße, Engelsgasse, Nordstraße, Hühlstraße, Westwall and finally end up on the market square as usual. The procession will no longer cross Ostwall. Due to the new route, the procession will be 200 metres longer. Vehicle barriers will also be used on Weiberfastnacht.

Ban on knives
The organisers would also like to point out that - by law - knives are banned and are controlled by the police.
Visitors to the carnival parades should therefore avoid carrying rucksacks if possible. And the police have another request: Please refrain from wearing any fake weapons, even when in costume.

Beware of traffic:
As soon as the big parades are over and the closures have been lifted, everyone should be aware that traffic will be moving again.

Meanwhile, the carnival umbrella organisation is working flat out to prepare for the various street carnival parades and events and provides information about the route and programme in the usual flyer and online: www.rumskedi-helau.de
