Campaign by the district police and the town of Beckum
Ghost cyclists - watch out for the direction of travel!
This is because cyclists often cause accidents by "ghost cycling" against the prescribed direction of travel. Ghost cyclists are easily overlooked and suffer injuries in road accidents. This is particularly common at junctions and crossroads, as drivers do not expect cyclists travelling in the wrong direction.
The district police have sprayed the friendly but very clear ghost cyclist sign at several relevant locations in the Beckum city area: at several points on Paterweg and Dalmerweg, on Westwall/Am Hirschgraben, on Neubeckumer Straße, on Hammer Straße, on Nordwall and at the Osttorknoten/Lippborger Straße junction. Citizens can report other useful locations to the city via the "Meldoo" defect reporter - via the app or on the following page:Ideas and complaints
The police will be supporting the campaign with prevention work over the next few days. Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich and Elmar Liekenbröcker (Head of the Law, Security and Order Department) from the town of Beckum accompanied the campaign, which has been very successful in recent years.
