"Music in the old vicarage"
Musical journey through the centuries
The new "Musik im Alten Pfarrhaus" programme booklet for the 2025/2026 season is now available in Beckum town halls, municipal facilities, Beckum Municipal Theatre, Sparkasse Münsterland Ost, Energieversorgung Beckum (EVB) and Beckum retailers. The new programme can also be viewed at www.beckum.de/kammerkonzerte.
Thanks to Sparkasse Münsterland Ost, EVB, the Förderkreis Musik im Alten Pfarrhaus Vellern e. V. and the Kultursekretariat NRW for their financial support of the current chamber concert programme.
The often quoted words of Friedrich Nietzsche "Without music, life would be a mistake" emphasise the importance of the chamber music series "Music in the Old Rectory". The concert series has stood for high-calibre and varied concerts for more than 40 years. The 2025/2026 programme is once again a successful mix of internationally renowned ensembles and soloists as well as young musicians who are still at the beginning of their careers.
The concert season opens on 2 October in the old vicarage in Vellern with the duo Farbton on the grand piano and marimba. The central piece of music of the evening is Modest Mussorgsky's composition "Pictures at an Exhibition", which leads the guests through a wonderful exhibition of sonorous pictures.
On 7 November, Aleksandra Mikulska will be making a guest appearance in Vellern, bringing 3 of her exceptionally talented students with her for the first time. Works by Bach, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Chopin will make the concert evening a listening pleasure.
On 29 January 2026, a saxophone quartet will visit the Old Rectory in Vellern for the first time. The Pindakaas Quartet has been performing at chamber and church music series and renowned festivals throughout Europe for over 35 years. "Voyage" offers a musical journey through four centuries with masterpieces from the Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism and Impressionism.
On 23 February, Paul Gulda and the Ensemble Europa will take concertgoers on a journey into the high art of Viennese classical music. At the centre of the chamber music evening is Franz Schubert's Trout Quintet, one of the most popular pieces of classical chamber music in the world.
On 26 March, Holger Blüder on the grand piano will travel around the world in 90 minutes. With virtuoso and expressive piano pieces from 15 countries, from Leonhard Bernstein to Claude Debussy and Franz Schubert, the musician interprets compositions from North and South America, Africa, Asia and Europe.
On 23 April, it's "Pure Romanticism" with Matthias Kirschnereit on the grand piano. The first part of the concert is dedicated to the composers Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Richard Wagner, Anton Bruckner and Frédéric Chopin. In the second part of the concert, the musician will perform the Sonata in F minor, op. 5 by Johannes Brahms.
Albrecht Menzel and Elisabeth Brauß will bring the 2025/2026 concert season to a close on 21 May. Under the title "When violin and grand piano meet", Menzel on the violin and Brauß on the grand piano will dedicate the evening to the composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Richard Strauss and César Franck.
All concert evenings start at 20:00. Admission is from 19:30.
