New parking markings on Linnenstraße and Ostwall
30 km/h and "right before left" throughout the Wilhelmsviertel neighbourhood
New parking markings
New markings for parking spaces are being installed on Linnenstraße. In future, only two-way parking will be permitted on the carriageway. Parking on the pavement will no longer be permitted. The existing parking time restriction of two hours will remain in place. From the junction with Oststraße, cyclists will in future also be allowed to cycle against the one-way system. The corresponding signage will be adapted. New parking markings will also be applied on Ostwall - between Nordstraße and Linnenstraße.
Traffic calming throughout the neighbourhood
A 30 km/h zone will be introduced throughout the Wilhelmsviertel (Ostwall, Richtersgasse, Wilhelmstraße, Rosengasse, Tenkhoffsgasse, Linnenstraße, Steingasse and Engelsgasse). In addition, the right-of-way rules will be standardised: "right before left" will also apply at the intersections of Steingasse, Engelsgasse and Ostwall in future.
This is what it's all about:
The redesign pursues several traffic planning objectives: more space and safety for pedestrians, more attractive conditions for cyclists, improving the quality of life and quality of stay, reducing and standardising driving speeds in the city centre.
In a second implementation stage, raised kerbs will be installed and mobile planters set up along the entire Linnenstrasse at a later date.
