Unique opportunity for the city of Beckum
Huge land package acquired
The purchase agreement has now been notarised. The largest purchase of land in over 25 years serves to strategically increase the municipal land reserves and strengthens the city's ability to act, for example for the development of commercial and residential areas.
"This land acquisition is a huge success. The stockpiling of land is of outstanding importance for urban development. This extraordinary land deal gives us important room for manoeuvre," explains Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich.
The area between Lippborger Strasse and Herzfelder Strasse and to the north of Herzfelder Strasse is mainly used for agricultural purposes and is partially leased. No direct development of the area is planned.
"A property purchase of a similar size is extremely rare; we have not been able to identify a comparable case in Beckum," says Anja Korte from the Urban Planning and Economic Development department, categorising the transaction.
The total area of the transferred parcels is slightly smaller than the entire "Obere Brede an der A 2" industrial estate, which covers 35 hectares. By way of comparison, the Pflaumenallee development area comprised 10 hectares of building land, while the "Im Kirchfeld" development area in Vellern is 1.2 hectares in size.
A satisfactory result was achieved for both sides during the negotiations. The standard market purchase price is a mixed calculation based on the various shares of space.
On 27 May of this year, the Beckum town council approved the purchase of the land.
