Fibre optic expansion in Neubeckum completed

Around 4,400 households benefit from high-speed Internet

The private-sector fibre optic expansion in the Neubeckum district has been successfully completed. GlasfaserPlus GmbH - a joint venture between Deutsche Telekom and the IFM Global Infrastructure Fund - laid around 44 kilometres of fibre optic cable underground between the end of August 2024 and mid-July 2025.

This gave around 4,400 households the opportunity to connect to the high-performance data network free of charge.

The expansion was entirely self-funded - i.e. without financial participation from federal, state or municipal subsidies - and was realised in cooperation with the companies Fiber Experts Deutschland GmbH and Libra GmbH from Steinfurt.

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich emphasises: "With the completion of the fibre optic expansion in Neubeckum, we are taking an important step into the digital future. After all, modern infrastructure ensures quality of life and competitiveness. I would like to thank GlasfaserPlus and everyone involved for the rapid expansion and strong commitment."
