City of Beckum takes part in pilot project

Climate-friendly energy network: Stromberger Straße planned as a pilot area

The project is coordinated by the City of Münster's economic development department. The Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftsförderung im Kreis Warendorf mbH acts as project partner for the district of Warendorf. Together with the city of Beckum, it has designated the Sudhoferweg/Auf dem Tigge/Stromberger Straße industrial estate as a pilot site.

Developing intelligent supply concepts

A total of ten locations in Münsterland are to be analysed in terms of energy demand, energy potential and infrastructure and modelled as digital twins in order to develop intelligent supply concepts as well as business and incentive models for the joint use of generation plants, storage facilities and lines.

Promotion and synergies hoped for

The project is expected to receive funding from the European Regional Development Fund under the "Regio.NRW - Transformation" funding programme and has already been recommended for funding by the NRW Innovation Promotion Agency. The formal application to the Münster district government is now imminent. Subject to funding approval, the project is scheduled to start in March 2026. The funding volume applied for amounts to 1.76 million euros. No own funds are required.

The integration of Energieversorgung Beckum can also create synergies for municipal heat planning in Beckum.
