120 new trees for the Plum Avenue

Some of the plum trees along Beckumer Pflaumenallee are now 50 to 60 years old. Many of them are overaged and show signs of severe decay. They need to be replaced for reasons of road safety.

Plum avenue in spring

In order to preserve the avenue, the city of Beckum is gradually planting a total of 120 new plum trees to replace the trees to be removed. In addition, existing gaps in the avenue will be closed.

The first felling and replacement planting will take place right at the beginning of the year. As soon as the work has been completed, the avenue will be in full bloom again, preserving the character of this popular path.

The last major planting campaign on Pflaumenallee took place in 2019 after the storm "Friederike" caused considerable damage.
