"A spark of courage" presented

Peace light illuminates the town hall

Once again this year, the peace light has found its way from the grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem to Beckum.

Together with their leadership team, five scouts and a cub scout presented a candle lit with the Light of Peace to Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich. They had previously lit the light together with around 2,200 scouts from the Münsterland region in Münster Cathedral. The scouts from Beckum then took the Light of Peace to various stations in the city.

The motto of this year's campaign is "A spark of courage". It is a reminder of how important courage and moral courage are, especially in challenging times. The Beckum scout tribe currently has 107 active members and has been taking part in the Peace Light campaign for over 20 years.

In the town hall, the guests reported on the moving sending out ceremony in Münster and the summer camp in Euskirchen, in which 70 children and young people from Beckum took part. Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich will once again take the Peace Light to the last council meeting before Christmas this year to spread the beautiful message.
