Innovative and liveable together

The town of Beckum is not only active locally with the topic of Smart City, but is also one of 13 municipalities that are tackling digitalisation together with the district of Warendorf.

With the Smart Region Kreis WAF strategy, the topic of Smart City is being considered beyond the city limits. This makes it even easier to implement projects.

One example of this is the planned Axtbach inter-municipal flood protection project. Sensors can be used to measure water levels. The data collected in this way helps to simulate flood events. The collected data and conclusions can be used to take measures at an early stage. This is a joint project between several local authorities along the course of the watercourse and the district of Warendorf.
