Sewage charges

  • Performance specification

To cover the costs of utilising the municipal wastewater facilities, the town of Beckum levies separate wastewater charges (user charges) for the disposal of wastewater and rainwater.
The wastewater charge is calculated according to the fresh water scale.
The rainwater charge is calculated on the basis of the square metres of built-up (or overbuilt) and/or sealed and runoff-effective areas on the connected properties from which rainwater can enter the municipal wastewater system with a runoff effect.
The wastewater charge is calculated according to the quantity of domestic and commercial wastewater that is fed into the wastewater system from the connected properties. The quantity of wastewater is defined as the quantity of fresh water drawn from the public water supply system and the quantity of water obtained from private water supply systems (e.g. wells, service water utilisation systems), minus the quantities of water demonstrably consumed and retained on the property that are not discharged into the municipal wastewater system. The person liable to pay the charge is responsible for providing evidence of the quantities of water consumed and/or retained. For further details, please refer to § 4 of the contribution and fee statutes to the drainage statutes.
The basis for calculating the fee for precipitation water is the number of square metres of built-up (or overbuilt) and/or paved and drainage-effective property areas from which precipitation water can enter the municipal wastewater system with or without a drainage effect. With regard to the details, please refer to § 5 of the contribution and fee statutes to the drainage statutes.
