Foster care service

  • Performance specification

The foster care service places children who can no longer live in their parental home for various reasons in suitable foster families. The stay can be permanent or temporary. The fostering relationship usually ends when the child reaches the age of majority, but can also be continued beyond this age.
The foster care service remains the point of contact for the foster child and their foster parents throughout the entire fostering period.
For the duration of the fostering period, a fostering allowance is paid, graded according to age. In addition, various allowances are paid for school enrolment, holidays/school trips, confirmation, communion, etc.
Families, married couples or individuals can apply as carers.
The financial and personal circumstances are assessed through interviews and home visits. If suitable, a placement can then be made.
