Integration assistance for disabled people

  • Performance specification

Since 1 July 2001, people with disabilities or at risk of disability have received benefits to promote their self-determination and equal participation in society and to prevent or counteract disadvantages. These benefits are based on the German Social Code IX (SGB IX - Rehabilitation and Participation of Disabled People) and the benefit laws applicable to the rehabilitation providers, i.e. also the integration assistance for disabled people under the German Social Code Twelfth Book (SGB XII). The integration assistance benefits under SGB XII include, for example, short-term but also permanent accommodation in appropriate facilities for the disabled, provision of prostheses and orthopaedic or other aids.

The Act to Strengthen the Participation and Self-Determination of People with Disabilities has been in force since 1 January 2020. This is better known by the abbreviation BTHG or Federal Participation Act.
The Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe describes and explains exactly what it is and what will change.

Either the social welfare office of the district of Warendorf(Eingliederungshilfe für Menschen mit Behinderung - serviceportal.kreis-warendorf.de) or the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe is responsible for granting benefits.
