Applications for exemption from radio and television licence fees can be obtained from the Citizens' Office.
A certificate of one of the following state benefits must be sent to the GEZ as an attachment:
- Recipients of subsistence assistance in accordance with Chapter 3 of Book 12 of the Social Code (SGB XII) or in accordance with §§ 27a or 27d of the Federal Pensions Act (BVG)
- Recipients of basic income support in old age/reduced earning capacity in accordance with Chapter 4 of SGB XII
- Recipients of social benefit or unemployment benefit II including benefits in accordance with § 22 of Book 2 of SGB II
- Recipients of benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act
- Recipients of educational grants under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) who do not live with their parents
- Recipients of vocational training assistance in accordance with §§ 114, 115 No. 2 of Book 3 of SGB III or in accordance with Chapter 3, Section 3, Subsection 3 of SGB III who do not live with their parents
- Recipients of training allowance according to §§ 122 ff. SGB III who do not live with their parents
- Special welfare beneficiaries within the meaning of § 27e of the Federal Pension Act (BVG)
- Recipients of care assistance in accordance with Chapter 7 SGB XII or of care assistance as a benefit of war victims' welfare in accordance with the BVG or of care allowance in accordance with state regulations
- Recipients of care allowances in accordance with § 267 Para. 1 of the Equalisation of Burdens Act (Lastenausgleichsgesetz - LAG) or persons who are granted an allowance due to the need for care in accordance with § 267 Para. 2 S. 1 No. 2 lit. c of the LAG
- Adults who live in an inpatient facility in accordance with Section 45 SGB VIII as part of the provision of benefits under Book 8 of SGB VIII
- Deaf-blind people with a severely disabled person's pass with the mark "BI", "GI" or "TBI"
- Recipients of assistance for the blind according to § 72 SGB XII or § 27d BVG
- Persons who have been denied one of the benefits listed in § 4 Para. 1 Nos. 1-10 RBStV due to exceeding the needs limit, whereby the excess is less than the amount of the licence fee (hardship case)
- Severely disabled people with the mark "RF" can apply for a discount
If you present the certificate to the Citizens' Office, the Citizens' Office will send your application, including the certificate, to the GEZ.
