Yellow bin

  • Performance specification

Most packaging is only used once. However, this does not mean that it is automatically waste. Quite the opposite: the valuable raw materials from which packaging is made can be used to manufacture new products. Recycling packaging helps to significantly reduce the consumption of resources in primary production. So if you dispose of packaging separately, you are actively helping to save resources and protect the environment.

Since 1990, Der Grüne Punkt has ensured that used packaging is collected, sorted and recycled in accordance with the Packaging Ordinance. As a financing symbol, the Der Grüne Punkt brand, owned by Duales System Deutschland GmbH, summarises the circular economy in a nutshell. Its imprint on packaging indicates that the manufacturer of this packaging has paid a licence fee for its collection, sorting and recycling.

The green dot on packaging does not automatically mean that this packaging goes into the yellow bin. Whether yes or no depends entirely on the material: paper packaging belongs in the paper bin, glass packaging in the glass container. Only so-called lightweight packaging made of aluminium, tinplate, plastic and composite materials belongs in the yellow bin. This includes, for example, tin cans, yoghurt pots, toothpaste tubes, milk and juice cartons, etc.

    Collection
The yellow bins are emptied fortnightly in the even calendar weeks together with the residual waste bins. The emptying and distribution of the yellow bins is not the responsibility of the town of Beckum. The company Prezero, Kupferstraße 30 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, empties the yellow bins on behalf of Duale Systeme Deutschland.
