Rescue service
Performance specification
The rescue service is the responsibility of the fire brigade.
We distinguish between emergency rescue and qualified ambulance transport.
Emergency rescue
In the case of life-threatening injuries or illnesses, immediate medical measures are carried out, the person concerned is made fit for transport, and he or she is taken under professional care to a hospital suitable for further treatment.
If necessary, the emergency doctor is also alerted at the same time, who is driven to the scene of the emergency by an emergency paramedic, who also assists him or her there. At the scene of the emergency, the ambulance and the emergency doctor team meet again. This principle is called the rendezvous system. In order to be able to provide help as quickly as possible, the city of Beckum maintains two ambulances. One vehicle is stationed at the fire and rescue station in the district of Beckum, the other at the auxiliary rescue station in Neubeckum.
Anyone who needs help for emergency rescue dials the emergency number 112.
Qualified patient transport
This term covers the transport and monitoring of non-emergency patients. These are persons who, according to a doctor's prescription, require specialist care or the special equipment of a rescue vehicle during transport. Anyone needing ambulance transport should dial the ambulance number 02581 19222 .
Training
We train emergency paramedics at our recognised training rescue station and also offer internships for the various rescue service qualifications.
