    Youth welfare in criminal proceedings is a service for young people and adolescents aged 14 to 21. It is always involved when young people (14 to 18) or adolescents (18 to 21) have committed a criminal offence. The focus of the proceedings is on the personality of the young person and not the criminal offence. Youth welfare in criminal proceedings has a neutral assessment function. It is a statutory task of the youth welfare office.
