Performance specification
As a lower-level road traffic authority, the town of Beckum independently carries out duties relating to road traffic in accordance with Section 44 of the Road Traffic Regulations. The aim is to ensure the safety of all road users and a smooth flow of traffic within the town.
The key responsibilities of the local road traffic authority include, amongst other things:
- Arrangements for ensuring road safety at roadworks
- Placement of road signs and traffic installations
- Special permits for the special use of public roads
- Exemptions for the use of parking spaces
- Exemptions from the Sunday and Public Holidays Act

Traffic management measures for roadworks
Traffic authority orders pursuant to Section 45(6) of the Road Traffic Regulations are always required whenever construction work occupies areas within public traffic spaces.
Documents required:
- Application for the imposition of traffic management measures under Section 45 of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO)
- Name, address and contact details of the applicant
- Name, address and contact details of the person responsible for safety on the premises
- Proof from the person responsible of certification in accordance with MVAS 99 or RSA 21
- Information about the work site (location, route length)
- Information on job security
- Site plan or extract from a town map showing the marked building plot
- Traffic sign plans showing the proposed traffic routing at the roadworks site
- Application for the imposition of traffic management measures under Section 45 of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO)
