An exciting encounter between the works of Lydia Mammes and Herbert Mehler awaits you in the special exhibition at the Stadtmuseum Beckum.

With her abstract works, the artist Lydia Mammes plays on the fine line between recognising things and situations and complete artistic autonomy. Colour alone is the formative element in Lydia Mammes' works. It appears completely non-representational and non-expressive.

In contrast, the large-format sculptures by the artist Herbert Mehler are a transposition of things seen in nature. The works rest naturally in themselves, autonomous and independent of their spatial context. Space, mass and volume interact with the surrounding space.
