Small fire in the town hall was quickly extinguished

Extraordinary operation for the Beckum fire brigade: this morning, the fire and rescue services were called to a fire in part of Beckum town hall.

According to initial findings, a fan installed in the ceiling had caught fire in a toilet on the ground floor of the former health department. Employees from the building regulations department now have their offices there.

The fire brigade was on site very quickly with 24 firefighters and was able to extinguish the fire quickly. 8 emergency services also arrived. Alleestraße was closed during the operation.

When the fire alarm was triggered, around 120 employees were on duty at Beckum town hall. The respective supervisors ensured that employees and visitors left the building immediately and completely and went to the assembly point.

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich was relieved: "The evacuation and the deployment of the fire brigade went smoothly. I am very pleased that it went so smoothly and was brought to a quick end."

The employees were gradually able to return to work.
