Dove of peace has landed safely

The wooden dove of peace designed by pupils from Beckum schools to mark the surrender of Beckum to the Allies without a fight 80 years ago was hung in the VHS auditorium.

As a symbolic highlight of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the surrender of Beckum to the Allies without a fight on 1 April, the Beckum schools put together a colourful dove of peace. The pupils had lovingly designed the 9 individual pieces beforehand.

The wooden animal has now been placed on the wall of the VHS auditorium by Heinz Holtmann GmbH & Co. KG, who also customised the individual parts, has now placed it on the wall of the VHS auditorium. The joinery kindly provided this service free of charge.

The decorative wooden dove will now remain there permanently as a symbol of peace.
