"The little rascals"
"Smart foxes" even smarter after town hall visit
Is the mayor rich and lives in a mansion? What does he do all day? What hobbies does he have? And what is the city council responsible for? With great curiosity and many questions in their luggage, the older children from the municipal kindergarten "Die kleinen Strolche" (The Little Rascals) set off in three groups accompanied by their carers to the town hall to meet Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich. He took time for the future schoolchildren - "the clever foxes" - and answered all their questions patiently and in a child-friendly manner.

No, the mayor does not live in a villa. And yes, his everyday life is characterised by many appointments and obligations. It was particularly exciting for the children to search for the chain of office and the heavy town key, the weight of which the young guests were able to see for themselves.
In addition to exciting insights into the mayor's office, the girls and boys also learnt a lot about the city administration. Gerdhenrich explained that more than 500 people work for the town of Beckum in various areas - from the fire brigade, swimming pools and green maintenance to business development and the citizens' office.
The children were amazed to learn that the city is also responsible for two kindergartens, including their own, "Die kleinen Strolche". With this new knowledge, they are now even better prepared for the upcoming start of school.
