Werner Schlegel: "Sculpture and Image" from sunday at the Stadtmusuem
Carved from good wood
His favourite materials are wood, which he often works on with a chisel, and black ink on canvas and paper. Large-format, colour-reduced paintings alternate with exciting wooden sculptures.

The placement of his works in the city museum has the character of a grand staging. Paintings and sculptures are closely linked. Viewers are thrown back to central questions in the individual exhibition rooms.
With his timeless concentration on the essentials, Schlegel seeks the simple, austere and purist in a multi-layered world and at the same time fans out the wondrous world of sensual experience. Tip tapping" creates haunting sculptures and images that play with light and space.
Werner Schlegel was born in 1953 in Greiz, Thuringia. After studying in Paderborn, he taught art at the Johanneum in Wadersloh for many years and held a teaching position for sculpture at the University of Paderborn. The multi-award-winning artist lives and works in Salzkotten-Niederntudorf.
The exhibition can be viewed free of charge at the Beckum City Museum during opening hours. All interested parties are cordially invited to the exhibition opening on 11 May at 11 am.
