WLE meets in Beckum
35 committee members, including Beckum's mayor Michael Gerdhenrich, discussed the reactivation of the railway line between Münster and Sendenhorst, among other things. The meeting was chaired by WLE Supervisory Board Chairman Peter Franken.
WLE, based in Lippstadt, is a traditional railway transport and infrastructure company in Westphalia. Founded in 1883 as Warstein-Lippstädter Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, it now operates a network of around 119 kilometres and is an important partner for regional freight transport. WLE is part of Westfälische Verkehrsgesellschaft (WVG) and works closely with its sister companies RLG (Regionalverkehr Ruhr-Lippe) and RVM (Regionalverkehr Münsterland). The town of Beckum holds a 6.54 per cent stake in the company.
