"Beckum cleans itself up"

Beckum spick and span again thanks to many hands

Private groups, numerous individuals, several daycare centres, institutions and companies as well as primary and secondary schools: many small and large hands lent a hand during the big spring clean in beautiful weather.

The results are impressive: On Saturday alone, 5 cubic metres of rubbish were collected from the green spaces with gloves and tongs. Thanks to this great effort, the painstakingly collected waste finally ended up where it belonged: in the bin.

Whether in Beckum, Neubeckum, Vellern or Roland - the helpers searched everywhere for litter in flower beds, on roadsides and along forest paths. Once again, curious and remarkable finds came to light, including a complete chair, a bicycle in the Kollenbach stream and 4 car tyres with rims.

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich was on site and was impressed by the great commitment of the volunteers. The City of Beckum's environmental and green services had distributed bin bags and other auxiliary materials in advance and organised the campaign - with the support of the waste management company of the district of Warendorf - while the municipal companies of Beckum drove around the reported locations and collected the rubbish. If rubbish is still found after the campaign, it can be reported via the Meldoo app. The reports will then be processed promptly and the rubbish disposed of.
