City terraces enrich Neubeckum's main street

The first terrace was planted by Gärtnerei Wille immediately after delivery last week. "The pergola is great. It will grow quickly so that we can prune it in the autumn," was the feedback. Watering is taken care of by the residents: Both Eiscafé San Marco and Heimattreff Nr. 5 are delighted with the beautiful seating and the enhancement of the main street.

The second terrace will have to wait a little longer to be planted. Damaged planters were discovered during unpacking. Replacements are already in production and will be delivered soon. Both terraces should be fully planted and ready for use by the Active Festival on 29 March.

Despite the restriction, the new elements make a positive impression. Many passers-by take the opportunity to take a short break. The city centre management team, which accompanied the procurement process, collected initial feedback: Most welcome the new seating and that their opinions were taken into account in the selection process.

The experiences from the 2024 test run were incorporated into the tender. Among other things, less conspicuous colours, a clear demarcation from the road and a ramp were desired. The people of Neubeckum were able to choose their favourite from two final models - which is now on site. Over the course of the year, the city centre management will monitor how the terraces are received. As the furniture is mobile, it can be moved to other locations if necessary.

The official inauguration will take place at the Aktiv-Fest on 29 March. The terraces will be integrated into the programme and invite visitors to linger over coffee, cake, ice cream or a barbecue. In addition to the stage programme, smaller events such as a wandering magician will provide additional entertainment.

Your own idea? Funds still available in the disposition fund

Anyone who has further ideas for the design of Neubeckum can contact the city centre management at any time. Funding is still available in the disposal fund; projects can be funded up to 50 per cent (maximum 6,000 euros).
