Musical journey through the centuries
Pindakaas Saxophone Quartet inspires in Vellern
The quartet thrilled their audience with a rousing musical journey and provided a breath of fresh air in the historic setting.
The spirited and varied chamber concert included works by Anonymus, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Josef Fux, Isaac Albéniz, Claude Debussy and Astor Piazzolla as well as musical songs by Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin. The quartet used original literature for saxophone quartet as well as numerous arrangements of their own.
The renowned quartet from Münster and the Ruhr region impressed the guests with their extremely homogeneous ensemble playing, contemporary style and virtuoso technique. The entertaining presentation by the musicians, peppered with interesting anecdotes, was also very well received. A couple from Switzerland, who had married 30 years ago with the musical support of the Pindakaas Quartet, had travelled particularly far and were now able to reminisce. Only after prolonged applause and an encore were the quartet finally allowed to leave the stage.
