City terraces are delivered

With benches, pergolas and greenery, the two seating landscapes invite you to relax in the city centre. They will initially be set up at two locations along the main street. The terraces will be planted on the same day to create an inviting space - just in time for the approaching spring and the first milder days of the year.

The order was preceded by an intensive selection process: after the successful test run the year before last, the Disposal Fund Advisory Board - made up of representatives from the retail sector, property owners, citizens, culture and administration - looked at various models. Eight companies applied and four submitted concrete offers. Two models were finally shortlisted and put to a public vote in July. Around 600 people took part - online, at the weekly market and directly in the shops. With 74 per cent of the votes, the model from manufacturer Atech came out on top and can be used from the end of the week.

The City Terraces will be officially opened as part of the Active Festival on 29 March, because the Active Festival is also supported by many people and is a successful example of community action.

Anyone who has further ideas for the design of Neubeckum is always welcome to contact the Neubeckum town centre management team. Funds are still available in the town centre development fund. Projects can be funded up to 50 per cent and up to 6,000 euros.
