Container, windows in the inner courtyard and lift before the end of the year

Extensive building work started at Albertus Magnus Grammar School

Visible from afar, a large crane has been pointing to the construction site on Paterweg since the beginning of July. The scaffolding in the inner courtyard has also been erected so that the planned measures can really get underway during the holidays: In order to accommodate the school's five-form entry and the changeover to the so-called G9, school room containers will be set up next week. This will initially involve ground work. The new containers at the edge of the schoolyard will provide space for three additional classrooms of 60 square metres each and will be used after the summer holidays.

The atrium is being extensively refurbished: The windows facing the inner courtyard will be replaced and the concrete façade will be refurbished. A lift will be installed there in the autumn, providing barrier-free access to all floors. The corridors will then also be upgraded in terms of fire protection in order to continue to fulfil the high safety requirements. The cost of installing the new containers, including the connections, amounts to 450,000 euros. The renovation of the windows and the installation of the lift will cost around 750,000 euros.

Further extensive structural measures are planned for the secondary school up to 2030, which were outlined in a feasibility study by engineering firm schamp & partner. The following work, among others, is planned for 2026 Renovation of the façade and roof of the sports hall and the walkway, refurbishment of the ceiling structure and the lighting in the hall.

The following changes are planned for subsequent years:

  • Construction of a one-and-a-half storey extension (to the existing extension building 2) for the administration and the new canteen,
  • Comprehensive refurbishment of building 2,
  • Conversion of the previous administration rooms into classrooms,
  • Modernisation of the facades and windows of the main building,
  • Expansion and renovation of the classrooms in the Prudentia School,
  • Installation of a lift in the Prudentia School area.

School development planning is being implemented

All construction measures - with the exception of pure refurbishment work - are based on the school development plan approved by politicians. They are based on the space requirements concepts defined there and contribute to securing a sustainable educational landscape in the long term.
