Companies from the region exchange ideas

From onboarding to Generation Z

In his welcoming address, Ennigerloh's mayor Berthold Lülf recognised the close and fruitful cooperation between the three economic development agencies and the great interest shown by companies in the network meeting. "The networking of companies and institutions is the key to a successful and sustainable economic region," emphasised Lülf.

An exciting highlight was the presentation by Prof Dr Tim Stanik from the University of Münster, who spoke about Generation Z. Stanik used a live link to shed light on the expectations and needs of the younger generation, which are increasingly shaping the labour market. He compared the wishes of baby boomers in their youth with those of Generation Z. He pointed out parallels, particularly with regard to career prospects and esteem, which also played a central role in the 1960s and 1970s.

Another valuable contribution came from Claudia Atteln from Krisenhilfe Münster e. V.. She gave managers an important tip: in times of uncertainty or crisis, they should proactively approach employees and, above all, listen to them. "An open ear and genuine interest in employees' concerns can make a significant contribution to overcoming crises," explained Atteln.

Nicole Ottersböck from the Institute for Applied Labour Science provided an impulse for efficient knowledge transfer in the digital world of work as the key to securing skilled workers and the workforce. Using practical examples, she showed how the introduction of artificial intelligence can be successful. Her approach: involve employees in the process right from the start and communicate at eye level. "The key to the successful use of AI in companies lies not only in the technology, but also in the acceptance and trust of employees," emphasised Ottersböck.

The event was rounded off by Monika Leiking from Münsterland e. V., who spoke about the success factors for successful onboarding and offboarding. She recommended that company representatives clearly structure the onboarding process in order to set a standard and ensure that all new employees receive the same level of appreciation. Leiking emphasised that a well-planned offboarding process not only ensures a smooth transition, but also ensures that employees who leave the company share their knowledge and continue to be perceived positively as ambassadors for the company.

In addition to the exciting impulses, there was also the opportunity to exchange ideas and network over a shared lunch. The organisers rated the event as a complete success. It had once again shown how important dialogue and the exchange of knowledge are for the regional economy. The business development organisations of Ahlen, Beckum and Ennigerloh continue to focus on close cooperation in order to make companies and managers fit for the challenges of the future.
