Youth club on a discovery tour in Berlin

4 days full of history, culture and fun

The four days in Berlin offered the group an exciting mix of history, culture and leisure. A central component of the trip was an examination of German history. Among other things, the group visited the Jewish Museum Berlin and took part in a city walk organised by the "Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe" foundation. "That was very impressive and opened up many new perspectives for us," said one participant. Other museums were also on the programme, offering exciting insights into different eras and topics.

In addition to the content of the programme, there was also plenty of time to experience the flair of the capital: strolling through the city, discovering Berlin's international cuisine or simply exploring new places together.

"The mix of education, culture and leisure was great," said one young person. "We learnt a lot, but also had a lot of fun." In the end, everyone agreed that the trip was a complete success - and should definitely be repeated.

"Such experiences are important in order to make history tangible for young people and to broaden their view beyond their own everyday lives," emphasised Ricarda Huerkamp, educational assistant at Altes E-Werk.

The group returned home after 4 days with many new impressions and wonderful memories - but a piece of Berlin will certainly remain in everyone's minds.

Some of the young people were supported by the Magdalene and Bernhard Beumer Foundation so that they had the opportunity to take part in the trip.
