Cultural trolls in the city museum
To mark the exhibition organised by the Beckum-Warendorf District Art Association, museum educator Silvia Brede invited year 4 pupils from all of Beckum's primary schools to the exhibition, class by class.
The Martinschule kicked things off. The pupils were first given an overview of the regional art scene and the importance of the artist community. During the joint tour, individual objects were singled out and examined in more detail. A collage by artist Doris Junker formed the basis for the subsequent creative realisation of what they had seen.
The city of Beckum has been supporting the Kulturstrolche programme since 2011 with the aim of introducing children and young people to cultural topics and involving them in the city's cultural life. Further events in this series in years 2 to 4 deal with topics in the fields of literature, theatre, media, city history and dance. Participants learn about their cultural interests and talents and experience new forms of expression.
The project is supported by the Kultursekretariat NRW Gütersloh as well as the Beckumer Bauknechte and the museum association. There are 1,093 Kulturstrolche in the current school year.
