On 14 April 2026, Deutsche Telekom will begin its self-financed fibre-optic roll-out in Beckum, which is expected to be completed by April 2028.

GlasfaserPlus, a joint venture between Deutsche Telekom and IFM Global Infrastructure Fund, an expert in global infrastructure projects, laid 44 km of fibre optic cable in the Neubeckum district between 27 August 2024 and 12 July 2025. This gave 4,400 households the opportunity to access the high-speed data network free of charge. The companies involved in the expansion were Fiber Experts Deutschland GmbH and Libra GmbH from Steinfurt.

With immediate effect, residents of Neubeckum who live north of the railway line can sign up for a fibre-optic connection with a provider of their choice, as GlasfaserPlus is making its open-access network available to all telecoms providers. 

The expansion works in this area are scheduled to take place between November 2026 and March 2027.
