Cycle lane concept
The amendment to the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) in 2024 and the Administrative Regulation on the Road Traffic Regulations (VwV-StVO) in 2025 made it easier to set up cycle lanes. Bicycle lanes can now also be set up more easily for reasons of environmental and climate protection and health protection or for orderly urban development. Urban development and traffic planning concepts have been significantly strengthened as a basis for ordering.
The city of Beckum has taken this as an opportunity to draw up a city-owned cycle route concept. The concept is based on the objectives of the cycle traffic concept and the cycle traffic network. Taking into account source and destination traffic in the Beckum urban area, main and secondary routes have been defined in this network, which have now been used as the basis for determining suitable cycle lanes. In addition to a city-wide network concept for cycle lanes in the urban area, (expansion) standards and an implementation strategy were developed in the cycle lane concept.
At its meeting on 16 September 2025, the Beckum City Council adopted the bicycle road concept.
