New records set at City Cycling 2026

This year’s ‘Stadtradeln’ event in Beckum has come to a successful conclusion. From 9 to 29 May, a total of 1,034 active cyclists in 71 teams pedalled for climate protection and sustainable mobility in Beckum.

The event kicked off with a cycle rally to Ennigerloh. In glorious weather, a number of residents from Beckum also cycled the roughly 20-kilometre route together. A cycling experience zone then awaited all participants in Ennigerloh’s market square.

And so, after three weeks of ‘Stadtradeln’, here are the results: The most active teams in Beckum were the team from the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium, which clocked up a whopping 14,760 kilometres, followed by the All Heil Beckum cycling club, which cycled 11,307 kilometres, and the team from the Sonnenschule, which clocked up 11,258 kilometres.

Together, the participants cycled 202,854 kilometres, putting them in first place in the Warendorf district. This resulted in a calculated saving of around 33 tonnes of CO₂ compared with using a car. The Warendorf district also recorded more kilometres cycled than ever before. In total, the participants covered more than 1.43 million kilometres. The campaign has thus once again demonstrated the important contribution that cycling can make to climate protection, health and a liveable city.

The lucky winners of the prizes have now been drawn in Beckum. The prize-giving ceremony will take place on 16 July at 11.00 am at Beckum Town Hall. The winners will be notified in advance by email.

Rally to the opening event in Ennigerloh

On Saturday 9 May, the district-wide ‘STADTRADELN’ campaign was launched with a kick-off event in Ennigerloh. Group cycle rides set off from many locations across the Warendorf district, heading for Ennigerloh’s market square. There, visitors were treated to a varied programme of events, including a free bike wash and a prediction game. The Warendorf police were also on hand to provide information on road safety.

Three weeks for greater climate action and more exercise

From now on, all cyclists in the Warendorf district can once again register for the ‘Stadtradeln’ campaign. From 9 to 29 May, the motto across the whole of the Warendorf district – and in the town of Beckum too – will once again be: hop on your bike and rack up the kilometres.

The aim of the campaign is to promote cycling in everyday life and to set an example for more climate protection. Whether you cycle to work, to the shops or in your free time - every kilometre you cycle counts. It's not just about top sporting performance, but above all about leaving the car at home more often and discovering the bicycle as a practical alternative.

Cycling offers many advantages, especially in everyday life: It is often faster over short distances, saves costs and at the same time makes an important contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions. Regular cycling also promotes health and increases personal well-being.

Prize draw as part of the ‘Stadtradeln’ campaign

All active participants from Beckum are automatically entered into the prize draw as part of the city cycling programme. Energieversorgung Beckum, Sparkasse Münsterland-Ost, Euronics Pelkmann, Beckumer Fahrradlager and the town of Beckum are providing attractive prizes. The cyclists can look forward to city vouchers, bicycle bags, inspection vouchers or merchandise articles from the city of Beckum with a total value of over 700 euros.
