Child day care

  • Performance specification

The town of Beckum endeavours to support families with children by providing a sufficient number of places in day care centres.
In addition to the 24 day care centres for children, there are also day care groups and numerous childminders.
It is not easy for parents to find child daycare. At the same time, providing sufficient daycare places is also a major challenge for the town of Beckum. To make the process as easy as possible for everyone involved, the town of Beckum has developed a standardised reservation procedure together with the daycare centres and childminders in Beckum. The legal basis for this pre-registration procedure is § 5 of the Child Education Act.

    Scope of childcare entitlement
Children from the age of 1 are entitled to support in a daycare centre. Children under the age of 3 can be supported in a child day care centre or child day care. Children from the age of 3 are entitled to support in a day care centre until they start school.

The amount of support depends on individual needs. Up to a maximum of 35 hours of childcare per week, the need is generally assumed to be given and is not examined further.

If both parents or single parents are working or training, or if they are about to start work, a vocational training measure or a measure for integration into work within the meaning of SGB II or for special domestic or family reasons, additional childcare hours of up to 45 hours per week can be recognised as a need. The procedure here is as follows:

Reason forchildcare "employment or education "
The need for childcare of more than 35 hours per week must be justified in writing and supported by proof of employment (employer's certificate) or education of both parents, if applicable.

Reason for childcare "domestic and/or family relief
    "
If childcare is required for more than 35 hours per week, the need must be justified in writing and supported by a certificate, for example from the family doctor.
For the care of children under one year of age, the above conditions apply to all forms of care.

If there is a special need, child day care can be used in addition to childcare in a day care centre. In this case, however, the total weekly care time of 45 hours may not be exceeded.

The specialist child, youth and family support service of the town of Beckum decides in which cases increased care or care for children under the age of one is suitable and necessary for the child's welfare.

    Day care centres

If your child is to be cared for in a day-care centre, you must do the following:

    Determine your individual childcare needs.
You can have your child looked after in day care centres for up to 25, 35 or - subject to the above conditions - 45 hours per week.
You must specify the duration of childcare when you register your child. A subsequent change is possible in the current childcare year (1 August to 31 July) with appropriate justification.

Use the Kita-Navigator tofind out about the available options.

Make a reservation for your child in up to five daycare centres in the Kita-Navigator.
Your wishes will be taken into account as far as possible in the demand planning process. However, there is no legal entitlement to a place in a particular daycare centre.
Once the procedure has been completed, you will receive written notification from the respective daycare centre - probably at the beginning of May - as to whether your child can be looked after in the daycare centre from 1 August.

    Child day care

Child day care is a family-like form of child day care. It is aimed in particular at children in the first 3 years of life. A qualified childminder (childminder/father) is provided to look after the child for part of the day or all day in their own household or in the parents' household or in other suitable premises.
Child day care can also be used in addition to day care centres if there is a special need.
In addition to care in the home of a day carer, there are 10 day care groups in Beckum. Here, up to 9 children under the age of 3 are looked after by up to 3 childminders in rooms set up for this purpose.

If you want your child to attend a day care centre, you must do the following:

    Determine your individual childcare needs.
With child day care, you can choose between childcare durations of 10 to 35 hours per week in increments of 2.5 hours per week. As with child daycare centres, childcare of up to 45 hours per week is also possible here - subject to the above-mentioned conditions.
