Höxberg panoramic circular route

On the 14-kilometre circular trail, you can experience the special natural and cultural landscape of Beckum and discover the rich history of Beckum at the same time.
The circular route consists of 2 parts - the "Höxberg adventure trail", which is around 8 kilometres long, and the "Excursion to the megalithic tomb", which is around 6 kilometres long. You can decide for yourself whether to hike the entire route or just one of the two sections.
When hiking, you should wear sturdy shoes and sufficient sun protection. The hiking trail is not barrier-free, but is suitable for families.

Idea and development
The Höxberg Panorama Circular Trail is a joint project between the town of Beckum, local stakeholders and experts from the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL). It arose from the idea of linking the special nature and the significant historical sights in the south of Beckum and making them tangible. With a multitude of interesting monuments, from the Soestwarte to the Neolithic megalithic tombs, the hiking trail offers a broad spectrum for all age groups.
Route
The starting point of the trail is the car park at the Soestwarte (address: Soestwarte 1, 59269 Beckum). Information boards can be found at the 8 different stations along the hiking trail. The boards contain short and interesting texts about the local history and the landscape of Beckum, which is characterised by thousands of years of human settlement and cultivation.
But even without these information boards and sights, the hiking trail offers a special nature experience. From its highest point (around 160 metres above sea level), the Höxberg offers numerous landscape windows from which you have a unique view of the otherwise rather flat Münsterland park landscape.
Support for
Sparkasse Münsterland-Ost and Energieversorgung Beckum GmbH Co. KG made the project possible as sponsors. The state government of North Rhine-Westphalia is supporting the project as part of the "Heimat-Fonds" programme.
