The town of Beckum is showcasing itself at the Westphalian Hanseatic Day
Two years after the Hanseatic celebrations in Beckum as part of the major anniversary weekend, the city of Hamm hosted this year’s Hanseatic event.
With a variety of concerts and a Mobility Day featuring an emergency services display, the Hanseatic Day in Hamm had plenty to offer. The centrepiece of the festivities, however, was the Hanseatic Market on Santa Monica Square, where 31 other Hanseatic cities, alongside Beckum, were represented.
With summer fast approaching, it was above all the leaflets and brochures on the various cycle routes in and around Beckum that proved particularly popular with visitors. “It was lovely to see how many people are interested in our town and our region as a destination for day trips,” said Pascal Rückert, head of the town’s marketing department, summing up the event. “We were also frequently asked about the Hanseatic Day here in Beckum, which people remember very fondly,” Rückert continues. “It’s, of course, still wonderful feedback for us that we were able to promote Beckum so effectively with that event in 2024.”
The freshly printed leaflets for the new Höxberg Panorama Circular Walk, which is due to be officially opened on 6 May, were also in high demand. This is an eight-kilometre-long walking trail around the Höxberg, featuring nine interactive stations that offer leisure activities for young and old alike.
The next Westphalian Hanseatic Day will take place on 7 and 8 August 2027 in Soest.
