Cooperation with new agency

Westphalian Hanseatic League sets course for the future

With a sharpened brand identity and a clear strategy, the association wants to make the historical identity even more tangible for citizens and the local economy. In order to realise the jointly developed goals in a professional manner, the Hanseatic League is now receiving strategic and advisory support from the Rheine-based agency co:listic.

The basis for the current orientation is formed by well-founded results from an intensive workshop of the member cities, in which representatives of the city of Beckum also actively participated. In a joint process, the Hanseatic cities defined their core objectives and values: The Westphalian Hanseatic League is to be established as a quality brand that acts as an agile driving force for the local economy and politics, tourism and education.

"The Westphalian Hanseatic League is a vibrant network that thrives on the initiative of its 46 member cities. Together, we have set the guidelines for our further development," explains the board of the Westphalian Hanseatic League. "With external strategic advice from the agency co:listic, we are now ensuring that our vision of a cosmopolitan and inspiring community is communicated professionally and reaches people locally."

The collaboration focusses on the question of how the jointly defined core values can be experienced by the public. co:listic supports the Westphalian Hanseatic League in clearly emphasising the "Hanseatic benefits" in the areas of tourism, business and education. A particular focus of the advisory support is on strengthening the youth Hanseatic League and involving local companies. The aim is to sharpen communication in such a way that the Hanseatic city history of yesterday becomes the visible Hanseatic city future of tomorrow.

For the association, this cooperation means a professionalisation of the brand presence. In future, the Westphalian Hanseatic League should be perceived even more clearly as what the cities formulated as a goal in their workshop: An inspiring community that consolidates regional identity through lively tradition and develops supra-regional appeal.

Westphalian Hanseatic League
The Westphalian Hanseatic League translates the tradition of the medieval merchants' union into a living network of modernity. Revitalised in Herford in 1983, the association now unites 46 member cities in the former "motherland" of the Hanseatic League. While Münster historically functioned as the suburb of the Westphalian quarter, today the association serves as a strategic platform for exchange in the areas of business, tourism and culture. As a regional pillar, the Westphalian Hanseatic League is also an integral part of the international association of cities "DIE HANSE" based in Lübeck.
