New lift, replaced windows, improved fire safety

Over the past few months, key phases of the construction work have been successfully completed, meaning that the school building can already be used in a way that is significantly safer, more cost-effective and more accessible.

The installation of the new windows was completed on schedule in February. The redesigned courtyard has been fully accessible since the end of April. Since May, the new lift in the atrium has significantly improved accessibility. The fire-resistant walls and doors in the corridors were also fitted in May and provide significantly improved fire safety. The fire safety upgrade of the classroom doors is scheduled for September and is nearing completion.

There are also plans to redesign the main entrance to make it accessible, in order to further improve access for all pupils.

Work currently underway in the sports halls

The summer holidays are being used primarily to refurbish the sports halls. Work is currently under way to replace the single-glazed, concrete-framed windows in the gym and the assembly hall. The new windows are profile-framed glazing units with integrated anti-glare protection.

The water damage to the sports hall floor caused by vandalism has been repaired. The dehumidifiers have now been removed. Following a final inspection and a thorough clean, this hall will also be ready for use again after the holidays. In the autumn, the ceiling, including the lighting, is to be modernised. The flat roof of the changing rooms will also be refurbished as part of this work.
