Tradition with a new twist

The new programme for the ‘Musik im Alten Pfarrhaus’ concert series for the 2026/2027 season is now available at Beckum’s town halls, municipal facilities, the Beckum Municipal Theatre, Sparkasse Münsterland Ost, Energieversorgung Beckum and local shops in Beckum. The new chamber music season promises to be surprising, original and inspiring. Alongside new and rediscovered works, the programme also features world-famous pieces – including works by Mozart, Bach, Haydn, Chopin, Beethoven and Clara Schumann.

The concert season opens on 1 October at the Altes Pfarrhaus in Vellern with the Grychtolik Duo, regarded internationally as one of the most distinguished harpsichord duos. Alongside works by Johann Sebastian Bach, such as the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4, the programme features compositions by Antonio Vivaldi as well as Baroque improvisations.

On 19 November, the Novo Quartet will present ‘Masterpieces from Three Eras’, a programme that has received rave reviews from the specialist press. For Vellern, the string quartet has selected pieces by Joseph Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Carl Nielsen. In doing so, it celebrates the socially relevant spirit of chamber music and brings it to life with passion.

The chamber music series kicks off the new year with ‘Beethoven Today’. On 28 January, the Trio Merak will place the music of Ludwig van Beethoven at the heart of the evening – to mark the 200th anniversary of his death, which will be commemorated in 2027. The highlight will be the ‘Fate’ Symphony No. 5 in C minor. With a grand piano, marimba, vibraphone and numerous percussion instruments, the trio will build an instrumental bridge from the Baroque era to the modern age.

On 18 February, the exceptional pianist Asami Yoshihara will enchant the audience with études by Frédéric Chopin, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Robert Schumann. Critics predict an international career for the artist, who impresses with her technical brilliance, refined sensitivity to sound and exceptional artistic maturity.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart remains one of the most famous composers of all time and is regarded as a superstar of classical music. On 18 March, teachers from the ‘Warendorf District School of Music’ will present an atmospheric evening under the theme ‘Mozart Revisited’. The Sonata in D major for piano four hands is on the programme for the evening, alongside ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’ and arias from Mozart’s operas.

On 15 April, the Gelius Trio will take the audience on a journey ‘From Vienna to Bohemia’. Musical gems by Franz Schubert, Anton Rubinstein, Johannes Brahms and Fritz Kreisler will open the concert evening, which will culminate in Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Trio in F minor. The programme combines the elegance of Viennese Classicism and the salon tradition with the emotional expressiveness of Bohemian Romanticism.

The 2026/2027 chamber concert season will draw to a close with the concert ‘Clara’s World of Sound’, featuring pianist Anna Khomichko, on 20 May. The evening will centre on compositions by Clara Schumann, one of the most significant female musicians of the 19th century. Alongside Schumann’s compositions, Anna Khomichko will perform pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Frédéric Chopin and Johannes Brahms, whom Clara Schumann greatly admired.

All concert evenings start at 7.30 pm. Doors open at 7.00 pm. Individual tickets for the events will be available from 31 August at a price of 25 euros from the Beckum City Council offices or online. Any remaining tickets can be purchased at the box office on the night.

Anyone who buys a season ticket – available from the Citizens’ Office or at buergerbuero@beckum.de – saves 25 per cent compared with buying individual tickets. The town of Beckum is offering seven chamber music evenings at the advance booking price of 131 euros. Subscription documents will be sent to customers free of charge. The subscription card can be passed on to a third party if the subscriber is unable to attend a particular performance. And, of course, a subscription makes a wonderful gift for lovers of classical music.
