The Beckum-Wadersloh Adult Education Centre, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is presenting its new programme brochure for 2026/2027, featuring selected events from its extensive programme.

Among the talks and travelogues, the audience can look forward to, for example, the talk ‘On foot to Santiago – starting from your own front door’, as well as accounts of journeys through the USA (with live music), France, Scotland and Mesopotamia. Events on the Iran conflict, as well as on the theme of “Truth, Lies, Trust – Finding Your Way in the Age of Disinformation”, also enrich the programme.

This time, the Study Forum will be visiting ‘local museums’. The online lectures will cover topics such as Stonehenge, the Germans’ relationship with wolves, and the situation in France ahead of the presidential elections.

A literary evening of readings accompanied by guitar is dedicated to the work of the Austrian poet Theodor Kramer. Whilst the focus in sound and pottery courses, sewing, painting and photography is on creativity , music enthusiasts can hone their skills in keyboard and harmonica workshops.

The health section also offers a wide range of courses – from cookery classes and healthy eating to boxing workouts, aqua fitness, back fitness, qigong and fascio, right through to parent-and-child yoga and juggling. The programme also includes a talk on the impact of climate change on our health.

The integration courses will continue, as will the courses in German as a foreign or second language. Foreign languages such as Chinese, Dutch, Russian, Kurdish and sign language are also offered, alongside language courses in English and the Romance languages.

The IT section focuses on newer media and alternatives to Windows or WhatsApp. It also covers the basics of security on PCs, laptops and tablets, as well as touch typing.
