New lighting in Neubeckum

2 projects with impact

Juggler Sven
Juggler Sven provided magical, glittering moments.

Numerous Neubeckum residents came to the festive inauguration of the new lighting in the shopping mile and enjoyed the atmospheric atmosphere on the town hall forecourt with hot punch and delicious waffles - provided by the Neubeckum local history association. Meanwhile, juggler Sven from "drauf + dran" sent glowing cones and sticks flying through the air and created dazzling effects, while the enthusiastic audience grew in anticipation of the festive opening of the illuminated objects.

Trade association purchases new Christmas lights

"On 1 December, we traditionally open the first door in the Advent calendar. For Neubeckum, there are two lovely surprises inside," said Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich, welcoming those present and immediately directing their attention to the nearby roundabout. There, 6 illuminated hemispheres point the way to the city centre. Stars light up 14 lanterns and create a cosy Christmas atmosphere. The new lights are thanks to the Neubeckum trade association, which purchased the new winter lighting with funds from the Neubeckum town centre disposal fund and was financially supported by Sparkasse Münsterland Ost and Energieversorgung Beckum. "Many thanks to the trade association and the sponsors for this pre-Christmas gift to the district," said the mayor.

"It's a particularly successful example of the disposition fund and active community involvement," he said to those involved.

Shining Neubeckum

"Project number 2 not only lights up, the 9 letters made of powder-coated steel and a wooden seat are truly unique," the head of administration emphasised. The special illuminated object is the work of many people: Verve had the idea of developing seating furniture that would really fit into the neighbourhood and started a cooperation with the design department of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Under the direction of lecturer Geert Schüttler, a student competition was organised, which was won by Laura Stulgyte and Muhittin Cetinal. The two budding designers were able to see the result of their collaborative planning for themselves on site. Their characterful design for weatherproof outdoor use was further developed with the involvement of local craft businesses. Martin Große-Lohmann has produced 9 masterpieces of craftsmanship - subsidised with urban development funds from the Neubeckum ISEK. Galabau company Alfons Westermann and Elektro Pelkmann finally installed the unique bench and made it shine.

"A big thank you to everyone involved! This is a shining example of creative neighbourhood work with passion and inspiring ideas!" said a delighted Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich.

And then the Neubeckum town centre management finally set about unveiling the bench and lifting the curtain. To great applause, the gleaming letters were immediately handed over for their intended purpose.
