Water supply concept
The public water supply is an essential part of the provision of public services and thus traditionally a matter of municipal self-government. Pursuant to Section 50 of the Water Act, the municipality has the obligation to ensure the supply of drinking water and water for fire-fighting.
With the amendment to the Water Act adopted on 6 April 2017, the municipalities have to draw up a concept on the status and future development of the water supply pursuant to Section 38 (3), which shows that this is ensured in the long term.
With the present water supply concept, the City of Beckum fulfils this legal obligation.
It is presented how the city, in cooperation with Wasserversorgung Beckum GmbH, guarantees the public water supply in its function as local water supplier.
