Civil engineering department

The Civil Engineering Department, which forms part of the Urban Development Division, is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure in Beckum. To this end, our qualified and dedicated staff provide a wide range of services for the people who live and work here, local businesses and visitors to our town.

Its remit includes, in particular, roads, bridges, squares, and cycle, footpaths and hiking trails. In addition, the team is responsible for street lighting, traffic signals (traffic lights), road signs, road markings and roadside greenery. Other responsibilities include the construction and accessibility-upgrades of bus stops, the maintenance of sports facilities, issues relating to infrastructure development – including development contributions – and the management of grant funding.

The municipal sewerage network and treatment works are managed by the Municipal Sewerage Authority.
