Council sticker

The Beckum Volunteer Fire Brigade had proposed to the council that this honour be awarded to the distinguished former head of the Beckum Fire Brigade. Scheele, who joined the Volunteer Fire Brigade in 1983 and moved to full-time service in 1992, had been head of the Beckum Fire Brigade since 2006. In this role, he not only brought together full-time and voluntary staff from an organisational perspective, but also played a key role in developing and establishing the identity of a unified fire service in Beckum – an identity that continues to shape the organisation to this day, according to the proposal. He is said to have been instrumental in driving forward the further development and modernisation of the fire stations. “In his various roles, (...) Marcus Scheele has frequently taken on a pioneering role and (...) made an impact well beyond the town’s boundaries,” the document continues. In terms of their professional quality, structural impact and lasting influence, his achievements went well beyond the usual standard. The resolution was passed unanimously.
